Tip of the Day, September 6

06 September

September 6 – John 1:1, 14; “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

For the next few days we’re looking at the contradictions within the teachings of the LDS Church.  The only thing wrong with the passage out of the Book of Mormon today is that the Mormons do not believe Jesus is God.  Show your Mormon friend this and ask them what they think.

_____

Mosiah 13:34; “Have they not said that God himself should come down among the children of men, and take upon him the form of man, and go forth in mighty power upon the face of the earth?”

John1:1 is one of my favorite verses because it says it all about Jesus; it also tells us why we need to read the Word of God. From beginning to end, the Bible is all about Him. Reading and hearing the Word is the way God speaks to us and tells us who he is.
    John 1:1
    It is beautiful.
    It is comforting.
    It is peaceful.
Jesus is God’s gift to us.

This beauty is only found in Christianity.

I love this verse too – isn’t it just like our Lord to provide comfort to us while explaining who He is?
Never in a million years would I have thought Christianity could be like this! And while trying not to sound so melodramatic I just haven’t found a way to articulate how profound a difference this is compared to Mormonism. Whenever I think of it I wonder about my mother. I haven’t spoken to her in awhile so I can’t say how her day was today or last week but I’m sure it hasn’t changed a whole lot considering she’s still Mormon.
Each time I speak with her she heaves a big sigh when I ask her how she is…there is a lack of peace and obviously a lack of comfort in her world.
Whenever I make a comment on the blog telling people to ask the Mormon about this or that it’s not out of animosity, etc. It’s from a genuine concern – what do they think of their scripture contradicting the Bible. The verse from John chapter one comes to my mind all the time.
