Tip of the Day, September 4

04 September

September 4 – Jude 1:24-25; “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,  To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.”

Hmmm…Joseph’s name is nowhere to be found in this passage of scripture.  Ask the Mormon if this is a mistranslation, because according to their beliefs it has to be.

“No man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith. From the day that the Priesthood was taken from the earth to the winding-up scene of all things, every man and woman must have the certificate of Joseph Smith, junior, as a passport to their entrance into the mansion where God and Christ are.”  Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, 26 vols, 7: 289.

This wasn’t the only crazy thing Brigham Young said. Thank goodness this statement is not considered scripture, or gospel, and not taught today. Looking back at bizarre things that happened during Brigham Young’s and Joseph Smith’s time does not invalidate the gospel principles. Nor does it invalidate the existence of the Book of Mormon and the fact that Joseph Smith was not educated past the 8th grade and not capable, or smart enough, to write the BoM off the top of his head.

Isn’t this an amazing world where we can all co-exist together, yet have our own thoughts and beliefs. Bless you for sharing. May God be with you always.
