Tip of the Day, May 16

16 May

May 16 – Gen. 1:17-9; “And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorn also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken; for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.”

Well, we certainly know how God feels about Adam’s lack of obedience now, don’t we?  It is obvious from these three verses there is no room for conjecture or reading between any lines. Figuratively speaking, he was grounded; don’t let the Mormon try to convince you otherwise.

_____

“Next to the Lord, our first parent and presiding patriarch, Adam, gave us illustration of obedience necessary for salvation without compare.”  God and Man, pg. 240.

“…gave us illustration of obedience necessary for salvation without compare.” What illustration? I don’t see it and can’t understand where they got that idea.
