Tip of the Day, July 22

22 July

July 22 – Deut. 18:22; “When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously; thou shalt not be afraid of him”.

_____

The Mormon apostle Bruce McConkie has agreed with what God said about false prophets in his General Conference speech he gave in October of 1980.  The funny thing of this is that the Mormons will tell you that when one of Smith’s prophecies didn’t come to pass he was simply speaking on his own, not the Lord’s authority.  You can’t have it both ways!

_____

“There is no salvation in worshipping false gods; there is no salvation in false religion; there is no salvation in error in any form.”

(Bruce R. McConkie, Sermons and Writings of Bruce R. McConkie [Salt Lake City: Bookcraft, 1998], 17.)’

“There are those of the rising generation who shall not taste death till Christ comes… I prophesy in the name of the Lord God, and let it be written-the Son of Man will not come in the clouds of heaven till I am eighty-five years old”.
(History of the Church, Joseph Smith – 5:336)
