Sun & Moon Inhabited

Journal of Discourses 13:271; “Who can tell us of the inhabitants of this little planet that shines of an evening, called the Moon? … So it is with regard to the inhabitants of the Sun. Do you not think it is inhabited? I rather think it is. Do you think there is any life there? No Question of it; it was not made in vain.”Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, July 24, 1870

2 Peter 2:1; “But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.”

The first manned mission to land on the moon was the U.S.’s Apollo 11, which took place on July 20, 1969.  It was on that day Brigham Young’s prophecy was proven to be false. While the majority of Mormons probably had never heard of Young’s prophecy before that time it became clear to people over time this was only one of many false prophecies that fell from the lips of Smith and Young.
