Council of gods

D&C 121:32; “According to that which was ordained in the midst of the Council of the Eternal God of all other gods before this world was, that should be reserved unto the finishing and the end thereof, when every man shall enter into his eternal presence and into his immortal rest.”

Isaiah 40:13-14; “Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him?  14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?”

The passage from the Bible and the Mormon scripture are obviously at odds with each other.  My prayer for the Mormon people this year is for them to take a close look at the content of their holy canon.

Come alongside us and pray they’d begin questioning the god they’re worshipping.  As a Mormon it never occurred to me that I had a choice as to whom I could worship.  I was born a Mormon, raised to believe this Elohim of Mormonism was the Heavenly Father and that was that.  My thought process never really went beyond that parameter; after all, I had work to do!

I pray they learn they do have a choice.  There are many gods in this world.  We can make money our god; work, kids, a church, you name it.  The Bible however makes it clear for us.  The One and Only God of the Bible didn’t sit in some council meeting like a group of engineers trying to come up with the best way to “organize” the elements of the earth.  So if He didn’t do that, what does this mean for the god of Mormonism?
