Philippians 3:10; “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death”.

In finishing up our mini-series on Truman Madsen’s devotional speech, I was struck today at the overwhelming lack of spiritual growth in Mormonism. The things Mr. Madsen said to these young people in 2004, are the same things Joseph Smith, and Brigham Young were saying 180 years ago.

There’s no evidence of spiritual maturation, neither is there anything suggesting they had learned something new about God, or Jesus, or the Holy Spirit since 1830. They’re fixated on two things; sex and godhood. And as far as Mormonism is concerned, those two things are inseparable.

As heartbreaking as it is, those two topics overshadow all other things pertaining to Mormons as a people group.

Limited Powers of a False God

Madsen finished his talk with two more points. The ‘fullness’ of their god, and the do-called power we have in procreation. Keep in mind, this was delivered to young impressionable kids ranging in ages of 18 – 22. Moving along with the alphabet, he used the word fullness for the letter ‘f’.

“The fullness of truth, the fullness of the Holy Ghost, the fullness of the priesthood and the fullness of the glory of the Father are all phrases that are in connection with the temple and can not be received anywhere else,” he said.

Why can’t God fully manifest Himself outside the walls of a certain building? If He’s not omnipresent, then in which temple does the Mormon god’s fullness reside? Is it Salt Lake, Brigham City, Oahu, Paris, or Berlin…?

Will he be at the temple in your town when you visit, or will he be a no-show?

Man’s Holiest Achievement is Power of Sex

“Glory” was the last word he used and referred it to the glory of God. He said marriage is one way we can glorify God.

“The holiest of all achievements in this world and the next is to give your powers of creation and procreation mutually in the sacred relationship of marriage,” he said. “Family is glory and will be extended, intensified and increased forever.”

That statement is a lie from the pit of hell. God’s glory is found in Christ Jesus and Him crucified.

Isaiah 49:3; “And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.”

John 1:14; “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

Hebrews 1:3; “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high”.

One of the ways Christians glorify God is by acknowledging He’s the only true God of the Bible, and accepting His Son. This isn’t done in your marriage bed!

Besides all that, Madsen contradicted himself by saying the fullness of God’s glory is found in the temple, and now he’s saying it’s in marriage. Which is it?

Nine years after Madsen’s speech Mormon Apostle Dallin Oaks, reiterated the same message about procreation to another LDS youth group. For more info see Procreation God’s Most Important Power.

Once again, it’s the wrong message given to the wrong audience. Oh, be still my heart! Pray, won’t you?

This talk sickened me to the core. How they can sleep at night is a wonder indeed. My heart goes out to all the kids who listened to him that day, and for those who read the same thing in Dallin Oaks’ article in the Liahona.
