Preach My Gospel, pg. 21; “Defining Words…We have a powerful message with a unique vocabulary. Just as a physician speaks differently in the family waiting room than in the operating room, so too must you learn to speak so that those who are unfamiliar with our message can understand what you are teaching.”
Matthew 5:15; “Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.”
The only reason the LDS Church has to explain the English language to an English speaking audience is because they have changed the meanings of the English words they employ. The surgeon uses layman terms with families because most people don’t speak Latin and/or aren’t trained in surgical terminology.
