October 20 – John 8:31-32; “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Absolutely nothing we could ever do would even come close to what Jesus did for us at Calvary.  How could anyone ever think that the more we suffer, the greater the chances are for our salvation?

“All intelligent beings who are crowned with crowns of glory, immortality, and eternal lives must pass through every ordeal appointed for intelligent beings to pass through, to gain their glory and exaltation. Every calamity that can come upon mortal beings will be suffered to come upon the few, to prepare them to enjoy the presence of the Lord. . . . Every trial and experience you have passed through is necessary for your salvation.” –Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, 8:150
