Tip of the Day, March 11
March 11 – Acts 2:2; “And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.”
Mormons believe there are two comforters. Today and tomorrow the focus is the function and the nature of the Holy Spirit. The Gnostics also believed that knowledge would save them, but notice that the Holy Spirit isn’t “pure intelligence” as the Mormons would have you believe. Read 1st John to see the workings of His Spirit, and how the indwelling of God in you is a sign that you are part of the body of Christ
Luke tells us in Acts that the coming of the Holy Spirit was an actual event called Pentecost. Mormons don’t recognize Pentecost in any way.
“There are two comforters spoken of. One is the Holy Ghost, the same as given on the day of Pentecost..This first Comforter of Holy Ghost has no other effect than pure intelligence”. Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg. 149.
