Tip of the Day, August 6

06 August

August 6 – John 3:5; ‘Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.’

_____

Jesus’ own words tell us what is required to enter into the kingdom of God.  Not one single time did Jesus mention the necessity of getting married in a certain building to get married.  The following lesson from Spencer Kimball tells the members how vital it is to have a temple marriage.

_____

‘Using a chalkboard, he drew four circles, stacked one above the other, and named them Circles of Exaltation.  In the top circle, President Kimball wrote Eternal Life, which is the main goal that all of us share. He then drew a line representing the strait and narrow path from the second circle to the first one. In the second circle he wrote the words Eternal Marriage to remind everyone that this ordinance is essential in our quest for eternal life. If we are not married in the temple, we cannot receive eternal life.’  Allan K. Burgess, Teens, TempleMarriage, and Eternity [Salt Lake City: Deseret Book, 1988], 79.
