Thought of the Day about Mormonism:

Mormons Serve Their Country by Going on Missions?

My Google Alerts this morning proved to be an interesting one…  Oh, brother.

Apparently Ann Romney spent Thursday morning earlier this week on ABC’s show The View.  While Whoopi Goldberg was busy asking Ann Romney if it was true Mormons don’t serve in wars because it’s against their religion, Ann had to correct the wrong information floating around out in cyberspace somewhere. I won’t even delve into the topic of why Ms. Goldberg didn’t do her homework; suffice it to say Mrs. Romney corrected her.

My issue here is the mindset of the Mormon.

Mrs. Romney’s idea of what it means to serve our country was, let’s say scary.  She told people worldwide that Mitt and her sons served others by going on missions.

1. Did they really serve others and if so how and whom did they serve?

2. Aren’t Mormon missionaries out to serve the Church and their god?

3. How does serving a Mormon mission serve our country?

While Ann Romney’s comments on some daytime gossip show aren’t Mormon doctrine it does give us interesting insight as to how the mind of a Mormon operates.  We’re speaking the same language and yet somehow the meaning of words has changed along the way.  I see her and other Mormons like her and my heart just breaks for what they’re missing out on if they had disregarded Satan’s message and followed the true Jesus.

Sometimes it’s so easy to get wrapped up into your own culture and way of thinking that you don’t see what’s going on around you.  This is what has happened to many Mormons throughout its 180+ years of existence.

2 Corinthians 11:14; “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.”
