Superiority & Persecutions of Mormons – Mormon Quotes

Marvelous Work and Wonder, pg. 393; In light of the superior lives and accomplishments of faithful members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as discussed only briefly in the preceding chapter, one who does not understand that it is the heritage of the followers of Christ to be persecuted and evil spoken of, would not be able to account for the almost unparalleled persecution to which the members of the Church have been subjected. From the very moment that Joseph Smith, at the age of fourteen, announced he had seen God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ in holy vision, the forces of evil combined against him and against those whose faith led them to embrace the restored truth. Why he should be so persecuted and evil spoken of was a matter the boy Joseph Smith could not understand.

“Unparalleled persecution”?  What about the Christians who were used as human torches for Nero’s gardens?  Really now…
