Self Certifying Your Worthiness

24 June

Today we’re looking at an article in the upcoming July 2018 edition of the Church’s Ensign magazine. Hold on to your Bibles, because this time around it’ll be needed. Sigh…

Ensign, ‘You Can Be Temple Worthy,’ July 2018 “It is our great desire that members of the Church will live to be worthy of a temple recommend. Please don’t see the temple as some distant and perhaps unachievable goal. Working with their bishop, most members can achieve all righteous requirements in a relatively short period of time if they have a determination to qualify and fully repent of transgressions.

God doesn’t reside in buildings man has made. God dwells in the hearts of those who believe in Him!

Acts 17:24 “God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands”.

This includes being willing to forgive ourselves and not focus on our imperfections or sins as disqualifying us from ever entering a sacred temple.

When you accept Jesus into your heart, you become God’s temple. You can’t disqualify yourself! 1 Cor 6:19 “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”

The Savior’s Atonement was accomplished for all of God’s children. His redeeming sacrifice satisfies the demands of justice for all those who truly repent. The scriptures describe this in a most beautiful fashion:

“Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow” (Isaiah 1:18).

“And I will remember [them] no more” (Jeremiah 31:34).

This man’s comments are ironic given the topic here! If the demands of justice are satisfied, why the need to be qualified?

We assure you that living righteous principles will bring you and your family happiness, fulfillment, and peace. Members, both adults and youth, self-certify their worthiness when they answer the temple recommend questions. The essential requirement is to increase our testimony of God the Father; His Son, Jesus Christ; and the Restoration of His gospel and to experience the ministering of the Holy Ghost.

This, my friends, is a lie.

Living by a set of manmade rules doesn’t bring peace. Only God’s supernatural power through His Holy Spirit is able to do this!

Moreover, the idea that by going to a temple you can ‘self certify’ your worthiness is blasphemous. Do you have the audacity to stand before God and tell him ‘hey, I’m self certified’? Wow!

Please know how earnestly we desire that everyone make any necessary changes to qualify for the temple. Prayerfully review where you are in your life, seek the guidance of the Spirit, and talk to your bishop about preparing yourself for the temple…” – Quentin L. Cook

Better yet beloved, talk to God.

Man is not our judge, only God can do that! Even on my days of best behavior I fall way short, thus my need for the blood of Jesus!

Be sure to ask your Mormon friends what they think of Mr. Cook’s talk!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
