Journal of Discourses 12:344 “For the Lord has said in this book, (the Book of Mormon) which has been published for thirty eight years, that if they will not repent He will throw down all their strongholds and cut off the cities of the land, and will execute vengeance and fury on the nation, even as upon the heathen, such as they have not heard. That He will send a desolating scourge on the land; that He will leave their cities desolate, without inhabitants. For instance the great, powerful and populous city of New York, that may be considered one of the greatest cities of the world, will in a few years become a mass of ruins.” – Orson Pratt, Salt Lake City, Sunday, Dec. 27, 1868.

2 Timothy 4:3 “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears”.

Looking at the long list of prophets, apostles, and other leaders in the LDS Church, we can see how they’ve fulfilled Paul’s warning about the wayward behavior of so-called believers. According to the dictionary, the word few means 3-4. It’s been 150 years since Mr. Pratt made his bold prediction, making this another false prophecy for the Mormon Church.

Mr. Pratt’s seemingly dire warning fell way short of God’s standard. Devoid of truth, and heavy on hell-fire, and brimstone threats, the only purpose this served was to scare members into submission at the time. As we’ve mentioned before, this tactic is still employed by the Church today when they claim they’re the only true church on the face of the earth. If they had just heeded Paul’s other warning…

2 Corinthians 10:5 “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ”.

We’re praying Mormons will see Pratt’s message for what it is – a lie! Jesus has so much more for us beloved! If you’re a member of the Church, we pray you open the Bible and discover God’s great love for you today. Start in the book of John!

With Love in Christ;
