No Atonement = Lucifer Would Be Our God

The Promised Messiah Bruce R McConkieThe Promised Messiah, pp. 227-230; “…The purposes of the Almighty neither have been nor can be frustrated. The fall was part of his plan; he designed and decreed it from the beginning. … Jacob exclaims: “…if the flesh should rise no more our spirits must become subject to that angel who fell from before the presence of the Eternal God, and became the devil, to rise no more.” (2 Ne. 9:8.) Subject to whom? To Lucifer, the traitor and rebel who defied Deity and spread the woes of war in the heavenly courts. Christ is now our King and we worship him because we will it so. Had there been no atonement Lucifer would have been our eternal head and we would have worshipped him because he willed it so. Agency and freedom would have ceased for all those whom God had sired.” – Bruce R. McConkie

Luke 12:8-10; “Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God: 9 But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God. 10 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.”

In our Bible passage above we read how the Pharisees were publicly maligning the Lord when He had cast demons out of a man. They didn’t care about the circumstances of the afflicted man, or that Jesus was fulfilling scripture (Isaiah, no less), rather, they were more concerned about how this was going to affect their status in society.

Clark’s Commentary described blasphemy against the Holy Spirit this way;

“…This sin is not just the uttering of words. It is a life orientation. A deep, deep wanton and deliberate act of blasphemy against God and His work in and through the Holy Spirit, manifested in the Son of God when He walked the earth.”

Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit today is committed when you know better. It can also happen when you have access to, and are responsible for, the distribution of God’s holy word in a respectable manner, but purposefully misconstrue what His word says. It happens when you lead people astray with false teachings, and train people to practice idolatry.

The following is a synopsis of McConkie’s teachings. It goes without saying why they’re blasphemous, and deliberately so –

  • The fall was part of his plan [This is a lie from Satan]
  • He [God] designed and decreed it from the beginning [God did NOT design, nor did He order Adam to sin]
  • Subject to Lucifer, the traitor and rebel who defied Deity [This only happens when we’re not saved]
  • Spread the woes of war in the heavenly courts [This is about a future event from John’s revelation – btw – Mormons deny the Trinity…]
  • Christ is now our King and worship him because we will it so [God did this, not mankind]
  • Had there been no atonement Lucifer would have been our eternal head [???]
  • We would have worshipped him [Satan] because he willed it so [???]
  • Agency and freedom would have ceased [There was no chance of this taking place]
  • Those whom God had sired [God didn’t ‘sire’ mankind]

Something to think about…

‘The Promised Messiah’ is one of six volumes in Mr. McConkie’s ‘Messiah’ series, and this particular book contains 636 pages. The entire set contains 3,152 pages, and we counted 9 lies in the three pages we looked at today.
