This past weekend Kirk, and I had the opportunity to share our testimonies, and provide info on Mormonism at our church. (We’ll post pictures as soon as our daughter gets them to us!)

After the class, people shared stories as they usually do, of their own experience with Mormonism.

A common thread they spoke of was how people they knew who had joined suddenly became like strangers. I explained it has to do with the way Mormonism looks at Christianity.

Joining Mormonism isn’t like joining another Christian church. Doctrines of hating Christianity the LDS Church taught in the 19th century, are still valid today. They’ve purposefully separated themselves from the body of Christ to isolate members, making it easier to indoctrinate and confuse.

While Mormon leaders today may not use the vocabulary of their predecessors, the effects are the same. It broke my heart to hear of how friends and family were divided from each other because of Joe Smith’s false god. This is just as Jesus told us in His word – there will be divisions. Matt 10:35-36.

Today we’re listing some comments made by earlier leaders of Mormonism as examples of what happened then and how it still affects Mormons today.

Listening to the stories today served to solidify my resolve that we mustn’t stop sharing the truth about this even when it seems like everyone already knows. Pray for the families of those affected even in my small example.

With Love in Christ;

1 Cor. 1:18

Whores of the Earth

“Behold there are save two churches only; the one is the Church of the Lamb of God and the other is the church of the devil; wherefore whoso belongeth not to the church of the lamb of God belongeth to that great church; which is the mother of abominations; and she is the whore of all the earth.” – 1 Nephi 14:10

Christians…A More Ignorant People Never Lived

“With regard to true theology, a more ignorant people never lived than the present so-called Christian world.” – Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 8:199

Christianity Controlled by Evil Spirits

“Evil spirits control much of the so-called religious worship in the world; for instance, the great creeds of Christendom were formulated so as to conform to their whispered promptings.” – Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, p.246

Catholics & Protestants are Whores of Babylon

“Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the “whore of Babylon” whom the lord denounces by the mouth of John the Revelator as having corrupted all the earth by their fornications and wickedness.” – Orson Pratt, The Seer, p.255
