Mormon Lies about the Bible Taught to Children

28 September

New Era, ‘Answers to Common Questions,’ March 2015; “Do you ever feel unprepared when people ask you questions about the Church? Here are some suggestions for how you might answer a few frequently asked questions. …

Why do you have other scriptures? Isn’t the Bible enough? …

The Bible gives us much, and other scriptures give us even more. God has revealed His word in the Bible. We believe He has also revealed His word in other scriptures. This doesn’t mean we think any less of the Bible, though. In fact, the other scriptures help us know that the Bible is true by giving us additional witnesses of it. All scriptures are proof that Heavenly Father loves His children and gives them what they need to follow His plan. Additional scriptures help clarify some things that otherwise might be misunderstood or misinterpreted.”

2 Samuel 22:3; “The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.”

Oh, be still my heart! We’re praying the mighty prayer from 2nd Samuel for the Mormon people. I especially pray Jesus will protect the minds and hearts of the youth when they look to the leaders for answers to their questions.

The lesson in the New Era Magazine is a classic example of what I heard all the time in Utah Mormonism. They’ll blame misinterpretations, and misunderstandings on unnamed entities, instead of taking responsibility for what they’ve done.

Questions/observations we have today:

LDS –

‘The Bible gives us much, and other scriptures give us even more. God has revealed His word in the Bible. We believe He has also revealed His word in other scriptures. This doesn’t mean we think any less of the Bible, though.’

Truth: If they believed the Bible, they wouldn’t malign God’s word by teaching these things. Why hasn’t the Church demonstratively shown these kids how to know the Bible is trustworthy?

LDS –

‘In fact, the other scriptures help us know that the Bible is true by giving us additional witnesses of it.’

Truth: Nothing in the Church’s official canon, or discourses, provides a positive witness for the Bible. They do, however, go out of their way to express disdain for it. See 3,000 Reasons to Leave Mormonism for more info.

LDS –

‘All scriptures are proof that Heavenly Father loves His children and gives them what they need to follow His plan. Additional scriptures help clarify some things that otherwise might be misunderstood or misinterpreted.’

Truth: 1.They’ve contradicted themselves by stating all scripture is proof… if it’s proof God provides, then why add to the Bible? 2. God’s Holy Spirit working inside the believer clarifies His word for each person seeking to know His will. Hebrews 4:12.
