Mormon Dilemma 399

No Pre-existence in Book of Mormon

Jacob 4:9; “For behold, by the power of his word man came upon the face of the earth, which earth was created by the power of his word. Wherefore, if God being able to speak and the world was, and to speak and man was created, O then, why not able to command the earth, or the workmanship of his hands upon the face of it, according to his will and pleasure?”

Man pre-existed in Doctrine and Covenants

Doctrine and Covenants Section 93:23, 29, 33; “Ye were also in the beginning with the Father; that which is Spirit, even the Spirit of truth; 29 Man was also in the beginning with God. Intelligence, or the light of truth, was not created or made, neither indeed can be. 33 For man is spirit. The elements are eternal, and spirit and element, inseparably connected, receive a fulness of joy.” – Kirtland, OH, May 6, 1833

Exodus 23:1; “Thou shalt not raise a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.”

As mentioned earlier this week Joseph Smith had to establish there were problems with the Bible before he could convince people of the whopper find of his golden plates. The plates had just enough King James English to sound holy, thereby making it an easy lure to reel people in.

Today we see the Mormon god reassuring people he’s much like the God of the Bible and then somehow and some way this god of Joseph Smith yanked the rug out from under them just three short years later. Now the Mormon god has revealed that man has always existed and dwelt with him in heaven before the world came to be.

So which is it Mr. Smith? Is this god of yours self-existent or not?
