No Right to Make Own Decisions

Journal of Discourses 7:374-375; “Have we not a right to make up our minds in relation to the things recorded in the word of God…We have not the right…God placed Joseph Smith at the head of this Church; God has likewise placed Brigham Young at the head of this Church…We are commanded to give heed to their words in all things, and receive their words as from the mouth of God, in all patience and faith. When we do not this, we get into darkness.” – Orson Pratt, Salt Lake City, January 29, 1860

Proverbs 18:1-2; “Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom. 2 A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.”

Do we have such tunnel vision that we won’t take the godly advice from those outside our own church? Is our heart only content when we hear from those we deem worthy? This will lead us to trouble when we’ve separated ourselves from society and have been tricked into believing you can’t trust “outsiders”.

Beware of those who tell you they’re the only preacher or priest out there with a true message from God. The body of Christ is made up of many members, not just one!
