Follow the Prophets

Conference Report, “Follow the Prophets”, Oct. 1981, pp. 90–91; “If we really do love God, then indeed we must and we will love and revere his anointed ones… Of his faithful servants the Lord has said: These are they who overcome by faith. Wherefore, all things are theirs and they are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s. These are they whose names are written in heaven, where God and Christ are the judge of all. These are they whose glory is that of the sun, even the glory of God, the highest of all.” – Mark Petersen

At the end of this article are the words of an LDS hymn (#19) called “We Thank Thee O God for a Prophet”.  Here are the words…

“We thank thee, O God for a prophet

To guide us in these latter days.

We thank thee for sending the gospel

To lighten our minds with its rays.

We thank thee for every blessing

Bestowed by thy bounteous hand.

We feel it a pleasure to serve thee,

And love to obey thy command.”

Acts 4:12; “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

With verses like the one we find in Acts it’s hard to justify the words of the LDS Church.

Prophets aren’t here to guide us, they’re here to give exhortation from the word of God. God guides us. His words guide us! The Holy Spirit transforms us through His supernatural powers! This has nothing to do with the work of man who is nothing but a vapor in the wind.

These false prophet’s names can’t be written in heaven. God is clear when He told us not to listen to them when they utter false prophecies and why would man be getting glory in heaven? Isn’t that reserved for our God and King Jesus?
