LDS Church Apostasy

15 July

Deuteronomy 11:16; “Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them.”

salt lake mormon temple 2The LDS Church has made its living on the theory all of Christianity began living in apostasy at some point after the Apostle John died. Historically speaking, the claims they’ve made are either baseless, or outright lies. Today we’re looking at some of those, in addition to their own track record.

Apostasy Present with Doctrinal Changes

Doctrines of Salvation 1:170; “Inspiration is discovered in the fact that each part, as it was revealed, dovetailed perfectly with what had come before. There was no need for eliminating, changing, or adjusting any part to make it fit…” – Joseph Fielding Smith

According to Mr. Smith early church fathers either stripped away, or changed church ordinances and doctrines. The problem here is the lack of evidence to show what happened, or when.

Unrepentant Alterations to Mormon Scripture

Title Page to Doctrine and Covenants; “THE DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS…CONTAINING REVELATIONS GIVEN TO JOSEPH SMITH, THE PROPHET WITH SOME ADDITIONS BY HIS SUCCESSORS IN THE PRESIDENCY OF THE CHURCH…” [emp. mine]

The LDS Church claims they alone are the one true church on the face of the earth, however, their own canon reveals their doctrines to be ever changing to appease society, making them unreliable.

Commandments are True, and Shall not Pass Away

D&C 1:37-38; “Search these commandments, for they are true and faithful …. What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken, and l excuse not myself; and though the heavens and the earth pass away, my word shall not pass away but all shall be fulfilled…” [emp. mine]

Again, this can’t be true based on what their canon says above.

Changes to Ordinances in Apostate Religions

Ensign, “The Things of God and Man,” November 1977, 21; “They [Apostate Churches]  have changed many of the ordinances. For instance, they no longer baptize as Jesus was baptized when he went to John to be baptized of him.” – LeGrand Richards

This isn’t true and there’s no proof to back up the claim.

Smith Prophesied Ordinances are NOT to be Changed

Ensign, ‘Ordinances and Covenants,’ August 2001; “…sacred ordinances of the gospel as requirements for salvation and exaltation …  Joseph Smith taught: “Ordinances instituted in the heavens before the foundation of the world, in the priesthood, for the salvation of men, are not to be altered or changed…” – Dennis B. Neuenschwander

Temple Ordinances Same Forever and Ever

History of the Church 4:208; “Now the purpose in Himself in the winding up scene of the last dispensation is that all things pertaining to that dispensation should be conducted precisely in accordance with the preceding dispensations…. He set the temple ordinances to be the same forever and ever and set Adam to watch over them, to reveal them from heaven to man, or to send angels to reveal them.” – Joseph Smith

This must’ve been somewhat important if it’s repeatedly taught. Right?

Wrong.

The Church’s endowment ceremonies have seen numerous modifications, making these prophecies and doctrines false!

In sum, the Church is living in open rebellion, not only  against themselves, but God as well.
