The Seer, p. 85 “And in that day Adam blessed God, and was filled, and began to prophesy, concerning all the families of the earth: blessed be the name of God for my transgression, for in this life I shall have joy, and again in my flesh I shall see God.” — Orson Pratt, 1853

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

1 John 1:8 “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”

Like yesterday, we have a few questions about Mr. Pratt’s theology…

1.Although it doesn’t state it outright, we can surmise Mr. Pratt was saying Adam was filled with the Holy Ghost. This however, would be impossible since God’s HS didn’t indwell mankind like this until Pentecost.

2.There is no record in the Bible telling us that Adam prophesied about anything.

3.Why would you bless God for disobeying Him? Do your kids bless you when they disobey?

4.Adam and Eve already had joy because they were living in the presence of God. They didn’t obtain joy because they sinned! God booted them out of paradise!! How is that joyful?

5.Why would you tell someone that sinning brings eternal life when God says it brings death?

As we stated yesterday, it may seem we’re pulling odd, and out of date teachings off a shelf from nowhere, but in fact this is a mainstay in Mormon theology today.

Be sure to share the truth with a Mormon! Let them know we’re all sinners, thus the need for a Redeemer.

With Love in Christ;
