Is the Book of Mormon a Worthy 2nd Witness for Bible?

30 April

Isaiah 40:8 “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: But the word of our God shall stand for ever.”

The LDS Church tells us their Book of Mormon is “a second witness to the Bible.

However, we’re wondering…

Who needs something that condemns our Lord, and what He’s said in His word?

2 Nephi 29:3, 6; “And because my words shall hiss forth—many of the Gentiles shall say: A Bible! A Bible! We have got a Bible, and there cannot be any more Bible. 6 Thou fool, that shall say: A Bible, we have got a Bible, and we need no more Bible. Have ye obtained a Bible save it were by the Jews?”

Moreover, what type of witness contradicts history, and expects you to accept it as fact? This is what the Book of Mormon does, but its own narrative warns of danger. One way to check its validity is to look at history and compare it with what it says.

Our test here is quite simple. The BoM uses the Greek word ‘Bible’ 11 times, and each occurrence supposedly took place in BC 559. Greek wasn’t a language until 223 AD.

See Greek and Latin Word Chart for more info.

So here we have the BoM denouncing God’s word, and contradicting history.

Which story do you believe?

With Love in Christ;
