Doctrinal Lie of Mormonism: the Law Makes You Free

doctrine-and-ciovenants-1835-lib-byu-edu Doctrine and Covenants 98:8; “I, the Lord God, make you free, therefore ye are free indeed; and the law also maketh you free.”

Romans 3:20; “Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”

The Law reveals sin, but can’t fix anything, nor can it make you free!

Romans 4:14-15; “For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect. Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.”

Those who choose to live by the Law soon find their faith is irrelevant, which makes them the recipients of wrath.

Romans 7:7-12; “What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. 8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead. 9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. 10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death. 11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. 12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.”

Without a doubt, the law is good, and of course, the Law is perfect, which can only mean it’s holy as well. However, while the Law is all those things, it can’t help you be holy, or good, or perfect. It’s only through the shed blood of Christ we can find ourselves complete because He is the fulfillment of those things, not us.

Galatians 4:21-24; “Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law? 22 For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. 23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. 24 Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.”

Finally friends – I pray you’ll consider this passage in Galatians. There is no freedom in believing you can follow the Law. This certainly isn’t why our dear Lord came to earth to redeem us. He gave His life so you don’t have to lose yours!

If you’re LDS, we implore you to pray on these things and study what God has to say in His word!
