Christ of the LDS Church – Mormon Quotes

Gordon B. Hinckley, LDS Church News, June 20, 1998, p. 7; The traditional Christ of whom they [evangelical Christians] speak is not the Christ of whom I speak. For the Christ of whom I speak has been revealed in this the Dispensation of the Fullness of Times. He together with His Father, appeared to the boy Joseph Smith in the year 1820, and when Joseph left the grove that day, he knew more of the nature of God than all the learned ministers of the gospel of the ages.

Mark 13:21-22And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not: 22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

Rev. 22:12-13“Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done. 13“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”

Hinckley’s statement couldn’t be any clearer – they are not worshipping the Jesus of the Bible.

My heart is sickened thinking about my mother and the rest of my clan in Utah.  The line in the sand has been drawn – don’t ever let the Mormons tell you they worship the same Jesus you do.

I’m not sure when this comment was posted, but it troubles me that so much contention exists over differences of doctrine amongst Christian denominations about who worships the Jesus Christ of the Bible. Every sect is different. Today even the protestant churches have altered Jesus’ teachings and now support homosexuality claiming that Jesus supported it as well.

Catholics don’t believe the same doctrines of Christ either. Every denomination has its different doctrines. That does not make those sects a “cult. ”

As a Mormon who grew up in Hollywood with many evangelical, protestant, Jewish and Catholic friends, I respected all of those friends and our differences of belief. It would be far more productive to concentrate on what our own denomination believes and focus on that, rather than to criticize each other.

We’re in troubling times right now and religious liberty for all of us is in the balance. We can bicker over differences or work together to protect those liberties. That doesn’t mean ecumenicalism or one world religion. It just means respect. We unite in the public square for the right to return to our own churches to worship Jesus Christ, the man who lived and walked on the earth 2,000 years ago. He is the Jesus Christ of the New Testament. Christians all believe in that man, even Jews acknowledge his history. But we have different interpretations and doctrines surrounding him and his life.

You may declare that only your interpretation is valid – that is your right. But Mormons do not call you degrading labels and demonize you.

wow… everytime I read this post.. something else jumps out at me….the man who lived and walked on the earth 2000 years ago???? hebrews teaches that Jesus is the same yesterday..today and forever….he is not today just a man… HE IS GOD…AND as he was on the earth… he was GOD THEN AS WELL… FULLY GOD AND FULLY MAN…. the real issue is that mormonism has many cute little catch phrases about specific terminology…. such as JESUS…HOLY SPIRIT…GOD THE FATHER… etc….but your mormon doctrines about those terms has a meaning that is so far outside of mainstream christianity that the meanings for those terms according to mormonism doesnt even show up on the radar screen of BIBLICAL CHRISTIANITY. REAGRDING interpretation….the bible was not written for private interpretation….JESUS CHRIST CLEARLY DESCRIBED WHO HE WAS AND IS….and has made those facts very clear….

well cherilyn, attempt to demonize every other religion is EXACTLY what joseph tried to do when he claimed that during the ” first vision” of which their were at least 7 different accounts of thesame event….Joe claimed that God the father told him to attend none of the churches because they all were an abomination in his sight….and in the introduction to toe BOM itself..joe claims that the BOM is the most spiritually correct of any book on earth and will bring you closer to God then any other book!!!! those false claims elevate mormonism above every other denomination and falsely elevate the BOM above even the bible… so, having said that… i have a single question for you…. Can a bible ONLY believing..Jesus of the bible only believing ..spirit filled born again believer in JESUS CHRIST….WHO openly rejects joeseph..brigham…lorenzo..thomas…spencer..and every other so called prophet and also openly rejects the book of mormon..pearl of great price..doctrine and covenants..articles of faith..all 13 of them…and the journal of discourse and every other mormon teaching ….can I spend time and eternity in the celestial kingdom of mormonism….that is… the highest level of the three heavens according to Joseph smith or not?
