Bruce McConkie defined a cult as “sects” in Mormon Doctrine.  Under the sects section it says; “See APOSTASY, CHRISTIANITY, CREEDS, FIRST VISION, HARLOTS. Division and dissension, contention, confusion and discord — these are among the prevailing characteristics of the sects of Christendom.”  MD, pg. 174 & 699. [emphasis mine]

John 15:17-18; “These things I command you, that ye love one another.18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.”

So is Smith’s first vision part of a cult?  Why would you call Christianity a cult if you claim to be Christian?
