Tip of the Day, December 21

21 December

December 21 – Mark 15:17& Exodus 26:31; “And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head. – “And thou shalt make a veil of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen of cunning work: with cherubims shall it be made.”

Josephus reported the inner veil which was rent in two was four inches thick and horses that were tied to each side couldn’t pull it apart.  The veil represented many things but two of them are; the body of Christ being torn and broken; and its color of purple which signified royalty.

Sadly enough the Jews kept offering sacrifices in the temple for another 40 years after the crucifixion.  Ask the Mormon what he knows about the veil and the crucifixion.  Ask him if he knows that we now have direct access to God and how radical of an idea this must

have been to the Israelites at that time!

Now while the Mormon scripture that is quoted here today isn’t about the veil, ask them what it means when the Bible said, “Jesus knew that all things were accomplished” and “It is finished”.  This is from the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible so they can’t use the excuse that it wasn’t translated correctly, right?

“After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.  Now there was a vessel full of vinegar, mingled with gall, and they filled a sponge with it, and put upon hyssop, and put to his mouth.  When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished; and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.” JST John 19:28.
