Tip of the Day, August 29

29 August

August 29 – Psalms 22:26-27; “The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.  All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.”

There are a few things to take notice of in the second part of this Mormon hymn below. You don’t qualify as a martyr when you shoot and kill someone while trying to escape from jail.  Smith’s priesthood is not endless.  Only Jesus’ priesthood is endless.  The kingdom of heaven belongs to Jesus, not Smith.  How does earth atone for someone’s blood?

_____

“Praise to his mem’ry he died as a martyr; Honored and blest be his ever great name!

Long shall his blood, which was shed by assassins, Plead unto heav’n while the earth lauds his fame.

Great is his glory and endless his priesthood.  Ever and ever the keys he will hold.

Faithful and true, he will enter his kingdom, Crowned in the midst of the prophets of old.

Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven; Earth must atone for the blood of that man.

Wake up the world for the conflict of justice.  Millions shall know “Brother Joseph” again.”  Hymns of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, no. 27.
