Tip of the Day, August 20

20 August

August 20 – Exodus 6:4, 6; “And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers.  Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments…”

The word covenant is beriyth in the Hebrew.  The transliteration for this word means; a compact made by passing between two pieces of flesh. The Mormons seem to think that joining an organization brings you into covenant with the Lord.  Share the truth with them about this and ask what they think of what the Bible says.

Mormon Doctrine, pg. 166 gives the Mormon definition of covenant:  “As far as men now living are concerned, the only ones who have entered into covenants with the Lord are the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their prophets are the only spiritual leaders receiving revelation for the Church and the world, and the saints themselves are the only ones enjoying the companionship of the Holy Ghost so that personal revelation may be received.”
