Tip of the Day, April 26

26 April

April 26 – Ro. 5:19; “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.”

For the next few days or so we will be looking at theRomans Roadto Salvation.  There are as few as four verses or as many as ten you can use to lead someone to the Lord.  Once again in the Pearl of Great Price, there is no mention of the grace that God bestowed upon all of us who will confess His name.  The Mormons have made Adam to be the first man who sinned and the first man to make amends for us all.  If this were true, then why did Jesus have to hang on a cross for us?

Moses 6:54; “Hence came the saying abroad among the people, that the Son of God hath atoned for original guilt, wherein the sins of the parents cannot be answered upon the heads of the children, for they are whole from the foundation of the world”.

It is all about the Law and the Gospel. The Law acts as a curb to stop us and a mirror to show us our sin. No one can keep it no matter how hard they try. Once a person realizes that they can’t keep the law and that God will give the punishment of death, it causes a person to humble themselves and repent.

Jesus, the God-Man (not glorified man), was the only one who could and did keep the law. He fulfilled the law. Now we have the Gospel. It shows how God loves us so much that we don’t have to die for faliling to obey the law because Jesus did it for us. God shows us his grace and forgiveness.

Humankind would much rather work towards something, earn something, etc. and the law religions have always had people wanting to follow them. It’s human nature to feel to earn something and get a reward. But the Grace of God in the Risen Christ, with nothing on our part to earn or do, is hard for a non-Christian to understand but it awes a person once they do.

Paul knew this, too, and in Romans wrote about thisin one of the wonderful books to read in the Bible. Paul enumerates the sins and the sinner then he give the verse, ” By grace are you saved and it is not of yourselves, lest any mans should boast.”

(The Mormons have made Adam to be the first man who sinned and the first man to make amends for us all.)

Please show me what you think backs up your idea that we replaced Christ with Adam.

    Thanks, fred
