Thought of the Day about the Graham Family, Mitt Romney and Integrity

16 October

We’ve written about the election so many times now that I’ve lost count. I never would’ve dreamt that I’d be this involved and at this stage I can’t wait until November 7th to come rolling around so it’ll be over with.

Melissa wrote a piece about a week ago that should sum up the views of Christians worldwide, alas, some of us seem to panic at the last minute and ditch our moral convictions to pick what Ed Decker called, the lesser of two evils.

My heart is heavy over the pictures I saw in the headlines last week of Romney sitting with Reverend Billy Graham on his front porch and I wasn’t going to publicly say anything about it until I read an article in the Asheville based Citizens Times this morning.

The Graham Evangelistic Association has made major changes to their website without explanation. Now this in and of itself is no big deal – I do that every day!  However, the ministry looks like they’re bowing to pressures of society. The Citizens Times reports the ministry “removed an article labeling Mormonism a cult from their website”.

Now I really don’t care who you vote for; this is a free country and we’re all allowed our opinions. My concern is why a godly ministry would abruptly change their very public pulpit for the sake of a vote.

I volunteered for the Graham Crusades on several occasions and distinctly remember that when Mormons would call in they’d have me speak to that caller because of my background. Their training manuals even have a section on cults and Mormonism is smack dab in the middle of it. It’s not a mistake nor is it an oversight the Graham Assoc. has taken down any indicators that Mormonism is a cult at this time in our nation’s history. I’m just highly disappointed they’d do this all for a vote.

When the election is over and done with will they be putting their previous information back up on their site?

And while we’re on this topic, why is Mr. Romney selling out as well? I have to wonder if the Graham’s realize he thinks of them as the whore of Babylon.

My, what a tangled web we weave…

With Love in Christ;

Michelle Grim

    The lesser of two evils is still evil.

      Absolutely! I don’t understand it either. Now, the Mormons have not changed their stance with regard to doctrine so how can the Graham family/ministry change theirs?
