Thought of the Day about Mormonism

20 March

Favorite Quotations from the Collection of Thomas S. Monson, pg. 56; “Most church workers are like a clock:

1. Some run too fast.

2. Some run too slow.

3. Some run too quietly.

4. Some run too noisily.

Church workers, like clocks, need to be regulated. This is the responsibility of the executives.”

Are you an executive or a prophet? I thought it was through the work of the Holy Spirit that we are transformed…2 Cor. 3:18, Gal. 2:20-21, Gal. 5:22, Rom. 12:1…

The work of a prophet in the NT era is to exhort God’s word which is already established and to encourage. It most certainly is not to control – that is God’s business and yours. Why are you subjecting yourself to a man? This guy isn’t God, nor is he Jesus.

Given that part of the business of any Christian group is to help the needy, and any organized work to provide that help needs an executive.

With the new City Creek Center opening in SLC, there are some people saying that a church should not invest in and run a taxable, money making business to help pay for humanitarian efforts.

Do you folks here think this, or do you think it is alright for a church to run a business to help pay for the needs of the needy?

A ‘catch -22’ question? There are pros and cons to each: for -profit for helping and non-profit only. Details fo each situation need to be known. Sorry, no answer.
But that is not what this post is about. Control is the heart of a cult. We Christians have Freedom given to us by Christ Himself. He doesn’t control. We volunteer to do good things and help others out of the great love that He has shown to us. We don’t do things to earn anything. We can’t earn anything.
In response to His love, we share and help.
We try to help those involved in false doctrine, who worship gods that demand earnings, who are lost in error, and who are slaves to sin. This is in response to His great love. I am praying that you will come to know this different God and His love that we share for you. He loves unconditionially. He speaks through His Word and not man, not rules, and doesn’t control. The Holy Spirit that WE know, helps us to know and understand the Word in the Bible. He is a gentleman and does not force us to believe. The GOD we know IS love.

(Control is the heart of a cult)

Those who control your definition of Christianity say I must be controlled by their teachings or I am not a Christian. You choose to be controlled by their definition.

(We Christians have Freedom given to us by Christ Himself. He doesn’t control. We volunteer to do good things and help others out of the great love that He has shown to us. We don’t do things to earn anything. We can’t earn anything.)

If what you say is true, why is there a recording angel keeping records in a heavenly book that we will be judged out of? If we can do nothing to be judged for, why is Heavenly Father having records kept on our activities?

    Jer. 17
10 “I the LORD search the heart
    and examine the mind,
to reward each person according to their conduct,
according to what their deeds deserve.”

Yes, “it is appointed that man dies once and then the Judgement.” is in the Bible.
BUT we are forgiven and those sins are erased with the Christain Baptism and Christian Sacrament of Holy Communion. Faith in our Jesus is a gift. We respond to His love, dying, and resurrection in OUR place by doing good deeds. Good deeds done to EARN something result in eternal death.
    Think about this…
“Faith is a gift of God lest any man should boast”…..”Faith without works is dead”
In Romans…” It is while I was yet a sinner that Christ died for me.” He didn’t wait for us to be good or do good deeds. We cannot come to Him even on our own but OUR Holy Spirit draws us to the written and spoken Word of God and calls us to repentance for our sins. In GRATEFUL reponse, we do good deeds.
OUR GOD is a different God than what you hear in the Mormon Church. They confuse people by using the same names as the Christians but the names for god in the Mormon Church mean a completely different thing. Two different religions are what we are trying to show you.

I am not controlled by definitions or the church or anything. That is nonsense. We have freedom in Christ that he gave us freely. Christianity is not THE CHURCH but the people.

I know that this concept is difficult for you to understand but
OUR God of love will help you if you humble yourself and seek him with all of your heart. Try it and you will see!

Those in “earning” religions are working for the goal for themselves to have enough points to get in Heaven. They are never truly sure if they have enough. Those that are Christians KNOW they will go to Heaven- “…not on their own merits, lest any man boast…” (see Romans, see also the ICON on the right sidebar on this page,”Romans Road to Salvation”) but soley on what Christ did FOR US. We have eternal life now.
Since Christians come to the Lord daily and ask for forgiveness, take Holy Communion when offered (for forgiveness of sins and strengthening of faith), and remember their Christian Baptism daily (when our names were writen in the Book of Life-see Revelation in the Bible), we have that certainty.
AND our slate listing the “deeds” is wiped clean. Therefore, the Jer. verse in your post will show that we are without sin as Jesus removes it and forgives us .
We are free to do good works just becasue we are grateful to God in His Son Jesus. We are doing NO good deed for ourselves! We do these for God.

Are you sure of your salvation? Mormonism is therefore a selfish religion since people are working to get themselves into Heaven. Many religioins of the world pattern this. The Christion religion is the only one that is different. Mormonism is not CHRISTIAN. But don’t take my word for it, , “…seek and you will find…”

Sue J – (Those in “earning” religions are working for the goal for themselves to have enough points to get in Heaven. They are never truly sure if they have enough. Those that are Christians KNOW they will go to Heaven- “…); (Are you sure of your salvation? Mormonism is therefore a selfish religion since people are working to get themselves into Heaven.)

When I was a Protestant I learned about the (as you refer to it) “Christian” salvation and Heaven. Unlike what you say, the truth is that in LDS teachings and beliefs, we are all saved to Heaven by the Blood Atonement of Jesus Christ. That is about all there is of your “Christian” Heaven. Heavenly Father has added to our knowledge about what goes on in Heaven after we get there.

Our action here on earth will then determine what our “job” will be in Heaven. We will be assigned to different mansions with different ways to praise God. Those who have demonstrated they can do the more difficult “jobs” will be assigned to the more difficult “jobs”.

Since we cannot work our way into Heaven, it must be your misunderstanding about God’s Church that causes you to say,” Mormonism is therefore a selfish religion”. I hope and pray that you will take the time to truly learn what we teach and believe so you are not fooled by those who do not want you to know the truth.

“Our action on earth will determine…”
You are in a sense earning a place and job in Heaven by
what you do here. It all has to do with what you do. Conversely, the Christian religion has nothing on our part to do. We are saved by God’s grace (undeserved love). “By grace are you saved and not of yourselves lest any man boast.” Romans

Even to get into you temple, you need to do certain things and get a temple recommend. But we Christians don’t need to do anything on our part and we don’t have to go step by step ahead.. Start from when you first came into Mormonism, write down the step, etc. and all you had/have to do to go forward in your church. Isn’t that earning something next? Isn’t that trying to get yourself ahead?

    Thegardensofboxwoodmanor;
    Since you skipped over some of the important things I said and then you fall back on incorrect sound bites about the LDS Church, I will repeat this;

We can do nothing to be saved and be resurrected, just like you “real Christians” teach. It is the knowledge about why there will be a day of judgment and the results of it that you do not have correct.

You might want to look into “Gospel Principles” yourself and see what a mess they made of our teachings.
