Thought of the Day about Enos’ Age

Enos’ Age Defying Lifespan

stickman-thinking-3Enos 1:25; “And it came to pass that I began to be old, and an hundred and seventy and nine years had passed away from the time that our father Lehi left Jerusalem.”

Psalm 90:10: “The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.”

Enos was supposedly the son of Jacob who was supposedly the son of Lehi.  Jacob came over from Jerusalem with his parents and siblings, one of which was Nephi.

If Jacob was a baby – 1 year old – when they got to America  in 600 BC and he had Enos at say 30 yrs old – circa 570 BC, that’d put Enos’ age at around 149 when he wrote his book because the notes for Enos say it happened circa 544 to 421 BC.

Why was he just beginning to get old at 149?  Wouldn’t he have been old at 100 yrs?

What was he doing to live this long?

Too bad he didn’t leave his secret behind!

Aside from the nonsense of this man’s words let’s not forget what Moses said in the psalm above. As a general rule God revealed to Moses men would live around 70-80 yrs which still holds true today.  How did this guy live more than twice that long?
