The Mormon World of Polygamy

10 May

Sorry about the throwback to an old soap opera my grandmother used to watch…however, we thought it might be useful to put things in perspective regarding the evolving world of Mormon polygamy.

The examples we’ve listed here today are but a small drop in a very large bucket of Mormon lies…

Our first example comes from their official canon, the Book of Mormon. Many aren’t aware that this ‘divine work of God’ actually condemned polygamy no less than three times!

Jacob 2:2427 “Behold, David and Solomon truly had many wives and concubineswhich thing was abominable before me, saith the Lord. 27 Wherefore, my brethren, hear me, and hearken to the word of the Lord: For there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife; and concubines he shall have none.”

Mosiah 11:2 “For behold, he did not keep the commandments of God, but he did walk after the desires of his own heart. And he had many wives and concubines. And he did cause his people to commit sin, and do that which was abominable in the sight of the Lord. Yea, and they did commit whoredoms and all manner of wickedness.”

Ether 10:5 “And it came to pass that Riplakish did not do that which was right in the sight of the Lord, for he did have many wives and concubines, and did lay that upon men’s shoulders which was grievous to be borne; yea, he did tax them with heavy taxes; and with the taxes he did build many spacious buildings.”

After Joe Smith published his new gospel he started out on a campaign not only denouncing our Lord, but denying he practiced polygamy.

Now the reason we’ve posted the info is in hopes the Mormon people will stop to think about all the changes this god of Mormonism keeps making. At the end of this article we’ve included several more contradictions the Church has made regarding their ‘new and everlasting covenant’ listed in D&C 132.

Please pray for those who are questioning to have the courage to follow the true Jesus of the Bible and leave the lies behind!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle

Church History, 1 March 1842

[Wentworth Letter] …

…[12th Article of Faith]

“We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.”

As an aside …

Footnote #16 included the following information –

“..JS History / Smith, Joseph, et al. History, 1838–1856. Vols. A-1–F-1 (original), A-2–E-2 (fair copy). Historian’s Office, History of the Church, 1839–ca. 1882. CHL. CR 100 102, boxes 1–7. The history for the period after 5 Aug. 1838 was composed after the death of Joseph Smith.”

Times and Seasons, Vol. 5, p. 715, November 15, 1844 “The saints of the last days have witnessed the outgoings and incomings of so many apostates that nothing but truth has any effect upon them. In the present instance, after the sham quotations of Sidney and his clique, from the Bible, Book of Mormon, and Doctrine and Covenants, to skulk off, under the “dreadful splendor” of “spiritual wifery,” which is brought into the account as graciously as if the law of the land allowed a man a plurality of wives, is fiendish, and like the rest of Sidney’s revelation, just because he wanted “to go to Pittsburg and live.” Wo to the man or men who will thus wilfully lie to injure an innocent people! The law of the land and the rules of the church do not allow one man to have more than one wife alive at once, but if any man’s wife die, he has a right to marry another, and to be sealed to both for eternity; to the living and the dead! there is no law of God or man against it! This is all the spiritual wife system that was ever tolerated in the church, and they know it.” — John Taylor

Book of Mormon condemns polygamy, but not always

Journal of Discourses 6:351 “The Book of Mormon, therefore, is the only record (professing to be Divine) which condemns plurality of wives as being a practice exceedingly abominable before God. But even that sacred book makes an exception in substance as follows—“Except I the Lord command my people.” The same Book of Mormon and the same article that commanded the Nephites that they should not marry more than one wife, made an exception. Let this be understood—“Unless I the Lord shall command them.” — Orson Pratt, Great Salt Lake City, July 24, 1859
