The Mormon ‘Mother in Heaven’ Conundrum

26 September

Gospel Through the Ages, p. 98 ~ “The stupendous truth of the existence of a Heavenly Mother, as well as a Heavenly Father, became established facts in Mormon Theology.” ~Milton R. Hunter, 1958

However, 33 yrs later Mr. Hinckley downplayed what is and isn’t, established fact in Mormon theology…

General Conference, ‘Daughters of God,’ October 1991 ~ “…in light of the instruction we have received from the Lord Himself, I regard it as inappropriate for anyone in the Church to pray to our Mother in Heaven. …The fact that we do not pray to our Mother in Heaven in no way belittles or denigrates her. … none of us can add to or diminish the glory of her of whom we have no revealed knowledge.” ~ Gordon B. Hinckley

Jeremiah 7:17-18; “Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?  18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.”

While Mormons may not be praying to their Heavenly Mother, their souls are still stained with the guilt of idolatry. Believing a goddess wife exists in the heavenlies next to God makes one a polytheist, which is blasphemous idolatry. Isaiah 43:10-11 expressly states there are no other gods before, after, or beside Him.

Share the fateful story of what happened to the Israelites when they were worshiping a goddess wife/queen of heaven. For further info of how Mormons believe they have a ‘Mother in Heaven’, see Heavenly Mother, Goddess Wife.
