The Terrible Lost State of the Mormon People

10 August

As my good friend, Ed Decker, and I were talking yesterday via e-mail, he told me about the dreams he keeps having lately, and asked me if he could use something on our site in an article about his experience.

In light of all that, we’re posting the thoughts he jotted down to share with readers of what God has placed on his heart lately. This is definitely something you don’t want to miss. Not only is it an eye-opener, but it’s heart wrenching as well.

Also, be sure to check out his site at SaintsAlive.com, where you’ll find this article and other news! And yes, he has another book at the publisher we’re excitedly anticipating! As a friendly reminder, Saints Alive is always grateful for everyone’s prayer, and financial support!

The Terrible Lost State of the Mormon People

They are without hope in Christ.

I have been dreaming a lot lately.  I am not sure if it is that I am restless at night or it is a biblical experience that we read about in Acts, Chapter 2.

17  And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

The other night, I awoke from a dream as real as if it were live action.  I dreamed of a time when I was still a Mormon.  I was recalling an experience I had over 50 years ago.

I was standing in front of a classroom, teaching the Gospel Doctrine Class to about 50 other Mormons. I was explaining the Mormon Doctrine of Repentance and the Forgiveness of Sin.

I read a quote from Joseph Fielding Smith that talked about the situation where a Mormon would go through the many steps of Repentance, confession, restitution and such in order to begin the process of God’s forgiveness.

I continued with the reading and told them that if the Mormon repeated the sin, the whole mess of the first sin would be restored to the transgressor.  He would have the old and the new to deal with.

I then read from a Sunday School manual and the text I was reading was from the LDS Scripture, D&C, Chapter 82.

I was reading to them from the start of the chapter and then I read 7th verse, which said:

And now, verily I say unto you, I, the Lord, will not lay any sin to your charge; go your ways and sin no more; but unto that soul who sinneth shall the former sins return, saith the Lord your God.

After I stopped reading, I paused and looked across the room. The many faces of defeat and great sadness woke me up with a start.

I can still see the look of 50 people staring at me with hopelessness filling their faces, their eyes empty of all hope and trust in a god who would play this this kind of cruel game with children he supposedly loved.

I sat upright and cried out to the True and living God who sent His son to die on Calvary’s cross to pay the price for their sin. I cried out for their souls to be set free from such evil bondage.

This morning, I did a bunch of googling and finally bought the Kindle version of Joseph Fielding Smith’s 4-volume work, Church History and Modern Revelation.

It is here, in Joseph Fielding Smith’s 4-volume work, Church History and Modern Revelation.  Lesson sixty, the Order of Enoch, topic 2 deals with sin and repentance and the restoring of full guilt to a transgressor.

As I thought about this millstone about the necks of every Mormon, my thoughts went back to the temple ritual. During a part of the ritual, Lucifer appears to Adam and Eve and brings an orthodox minister in to deceive them.

Near the end of this scene, Peter, James and John appear to save Adam and Eve from the minister who was sharing orthodox doctrine. Lucifer mocks them, claiming the might of his power over the whole earth.

He then turns to those Mormons taking out their temple endowments and boasts that if anyone breaks any single one of the blood oaths and covenants that were made in the temple they would be his forever.

These are the actual words of the ritual.

LUCIFER: “Now is the great day of my power. I reign from the rivers to the ends of the earth. There is none who dares to molest, or make me afraid.”  And a bit later,

LUCIFER: “Aah! You have looked over my kingdom, and my greatness and glory. Now you want to take possession of the whole of it. (Lucifer turns, and stares into the camera). I have a word to say concerning these people. If they do not walk up to every covenant they make at these altars in this temple this day, they will be in my power! “

Ok. I have shared all of this with you because my heart is broken anew for these victims of such tragic lies from the pit of hell itself, from the very mouths and Lucifer and lying, deceiving, false apostles and phony prophets.  There is no hope for them.

The depth of this terrible lost-ness and despair was in the tortured eyes of those Mormons as I planted this terrible evil lie into their spirits.

I had forgotten it over the years. I was just one teacher in one Sunday School Class among the thousands of teachers that specific day, teaching that specific lesson from the same teacher’s manual, church wide across the world.

God forgave me for what I did that day. I thank God someone told me about Jesus and what He did for me that day on the cross.

I know that I am a new creature in Christ and that when I confessed my sins, asked his forgiveness, I was cleansed. He bore the penalties for my sins.  My sins did not go into a file; to condemn me again for a past sin. He wiped that sin from my slate and placed it in the deepest part of the ocean of forgetfulness.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:9

The old man in me is dead, yet I live in and through Him who rescued me.

20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Gal 2:20

I call upon each and every one of you who call Jesus Lord, to bring this message of release and freedom from spiritual slavery to every Mormon you know.  Their lives depend on us.
