Temples, Temples Everywhere

24 September

Isaiah 6:1; “In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.”

temples-01As you probably figured out, today we’re looking at temples! Our objective is to look at why our Lord said we shouldn’t have more than one temple at a time, and examine the Church’s use of them.

As of September 16, 2016, the LDS Church reported having 151 temples in operation, which means they have 151 too many. Making matters worse, there are sixteen others awaiting completion.

The BoM tells us the Nephites operated several temples at a time, which was in total defiance to God.

Alma 16:13; “And Alma and Amulek went forth preaching repentance to the people in their temples, and in their sanctuaries, and also in their synagogues, which were built after the manner of the Jews.”

Adding insult to injury in their defiance against the Lord, one of their apostles made the comment temples are the stopping point between man and heaven.

“The temple is a point of intersection between heaven and earth. In this sacred place, holy work will be performed through selfless service and love. The temple reminds me of all that is good and beautiful in the world.” – David A. Bednar

We’re wondering…what happened to Jesus? 1 Timothy 2:5 reads –

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus”.

If the LDS Church wants to revert back to OT activities, you’d think the way they observe things then and now, would reflect what the Israelites were doing at that time, but this didn’t happen.

Alma, who supposedly lived c. BC 77 tells us the temple was ‘built after the manner of the Jews’, so he should’ve known how to properly operate thetemple. It’s apparent they weren’t doing this, which makes this is a false prophecy from Joseph Smith.

As we’ll see in the following scriptures, God was very particular about the way things should be done when it came to His temple. You’ll want to share the following info with the Mormon you know, and ask why no one has been following any of God’s instructions.

Let’s take a look at what God told the Israelites –

Where to Build the Temple

Deuteronomy 12:5, 7-8; “But unto the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come.”

Who Should Be In Attendance At The Temple

7 And there ye shall eat before the LORD your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein the LORD thy God hath blessed thee.

God’s Choice Of Sacrifice, Not Man’s

8 Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes.”

Not Inside The Temple

Deuteronomy 16:5-6; “Thou mayest not sacrifice the passover within any of thy gates, which the LORD thy God giveth thee:

Times of Service & Location Chosen By God

6 But at the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover at even, at the going down of the sun, at the season that thou camest forth out of Egypt.”

Mormons have grossly violated God’s command to build only one temple at a time. There’s no reference to any other temple, as you can see in our bible verses above, everything God said in His word was in reference to a singular event.

The other command Mormons have erred in is location. Historically, and most emphatically, the Lord has always declared His house shall be in Zion (meaning Jerusalem). Of equal import, having only one temple represented the fact there’s only One God, who resided in only one place.

In OT times, the Israelites went to where God resided, and that was His temple. Before the Holy Spirit was poured out and placed in each believer, God only hadone residence.

The following 11 verses are just a small example of how many times God told the Israelites the temple will be in Jerusalem.

1 Kings 6:1; “And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the Lord.”

1 Kings 8:44,48; 11:13,32,36; 2 Kings 21:7; 1 Chronicles 28:4; Psalm 78:68-69;Isaiah 18:7.

As we look over these things collectively, it becomes very clear Mormonism is in the wrong, and not following our Lord. All the time, money, effort, and false teachings that go into promoting these oversized buildings is just a shame.

The Lord laid out His plans quite clearly for all to see and understand. When He gave His Only Son as a sacrifice for our sins, He also implemented the New and Everlasting Covenant, which at this point is when His Holy Spirit would come and take up residence inside each believer.

He put in us a heart of flesh, not stone, and made a promise that He’d come and make His abode with us which meant He’d never leave. Jeremiah 31:31-33, Hebrews 13:5b, 20, and John 14:23, respectively.

Jeremiah 31:31-33; “Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: 33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.”

Hebrews 13:5, 20; “…for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant.”

John 14:23; “Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”

Because of all this God has told us that each believer He resides inside each believer, and he/she becomes the temple of God. See 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19

1 Corinthians 3:16; “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”

1 Corinthians 6:19; “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”

Dear Mormons, we pray you’ll consider what is presented here, and what God has revealed to  us through His word. He wants nothing more than to have a relationship with you! He already has plenty of temples here on this side of the cross. The question is;

Will you open the door and let Him in?

Here are the other 2 BoM verses mentioned earlier!

Alma 23:2; “Yea, he sent a decree among them, that they should not lay their hands on them to bind them, or to cast them into prison; neither should they spit upon them, nor smite them, nor cast them out of their synagogues, nor scourge them; neither should they cast stones at them, but that they should have free access to their houses, and also their temples, and their sanctuaries.”

Alma 26:29; ““And we have entered into their houses and taught them, and we have taught them in their streets; yea, and we have taught them upon their hills; and we have also entered into their temples and their synagogues and taught them; and we have been cast out, and mocked, and spit upon, and smote upon our cheeks; and we have been stoned, and taken and bound with strong cords, and cast into prison; and through the power and wisdom of God we have been delivered again.”
