Temple Work More Powerful Than Jesus

09 February

Ensign, ‘Come to the Temple,’ February 1995boyd-k-packer; “No work is more of a protection to this church than temple work and the genealogical research that supports it. No work is more spiritually refining. No work we do gives us more power. No work requires a higher standard of righteousness.

Our labors in the temple cover us with a shield and a protection, both individually and as a people. So come to the temple—come and claim your blessings. It is a sacred work.” – Boyd K. Packer

Oh be still my heart! How could they possibly think this? What do Mormons think of what God said? According to His perfect word, He is our protector, not a slip of paper we fill out in a temple somewhere!

John 16:33; “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

Psalm 28:7; “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.”

Psalm 61:3; “For thou hast been a shelter for me, And a strong tower from the enemy.”

Proverbs 18:10; “The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.”

Did you notice in Psalm 28:7 it says because I trusted in Him, I will praise Him. The LDS reference listed today is proof they can’t rejoice in what God has done!

Questions for today –

Specifically, how does genealogical work protect someone?

Specifically, why is temple work the best protection there is for the Mormon Church?

Why isn’t Jesus the best protection there is for Mormonism?

Why isn’t God’s Holy Spirit the most spiritually refining for Mormons?

Specifically what type of power is achieved with genealogical work?

Why does genealogical work require a higher standard of righteousness?

How does genealogical work make someone righteous?

How does it cleanse one from sin?

How does it forgive someone of sin?

So if I give a token to the man at the door to prove my worthiness, is this the only time I can receive a blessing?

What makes genealogical work sacred?

A few months ago we posted on a similar LDS teaching which boasted the livingoracles of Mormon prophets and apostles are more important than God’s word. Why does the Church go out of its way to ignore our Lord and God?
