Temple Endowment Changes Contradict Prophecy and BoM

06 January

Alma 34:32-33 “For behold, this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors. . . . if we do not improve our time while in this life, then cometh the night of darkness wherein there can be no labor performed.”

Hebrews 9:27; “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”

Today we’re simply asking members of the LDS Church why the Book of Mormon contradicts what they’re doing in the temples.

Moreover, our hearts are saddened to read the latest news of how the Church has once again changed the temple endowment ceremony. Apparently women are no longer required to ‘hearken’ to their husbands, and husbands are no longer the intermediaries between women and God.

Although the ceremony now has Eve playing a bigger role with more dialogue, it’s been extensively shortened. In addition to all this, garments went through another revision, and gone is the temple film which has been replaced with still shots. Most noteworthy perhaps are changes they’ve made to the covenants they take.

Jana Reiss from Religion News quoted an LDS member who made the following comment after going through the new ceremony —

“Women for generations have told their daughters and granddaughters… that the specific form of the ordinance was necessary for their salvation. That it was worth doing something that felt wrong to ultimately gain something right, in a similar way it was worth it for Eve and the choice she made in the Garden of Eden. These women will now wonder whether they were wrong.”

That is just downright sad, and breaks our hearts. Meanwhile…

According to the Salt Lake Trib feminist Mormons are lauding the changes, however, they believe the Church still has more work to do regarding gender equality. The Trib also pointed out changes made to the endowment ceremony in 1990 were ‘significant’, but the latest changes ‘go far beyond that’.

The Church’s announcement stated there have been numerous changes to the ceremony over the years. We’re wondering how that works in light of Smith’s prophecy declaring they mustn’t ever change! See ‘Temple Endowments, Can They Change?

We echo the LDS woman who said ‘these women will now wonder whether they were wrong’. I can’t imagine going through these rituals knowing the Church has always proclaimed nothing can be changed, and here they are being revised once again.

Please, pray for those who are going through the temples to realize it’s all for naught. They need Jesus, not Joseph’s pretended Masonic oaths to get into heaven!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
