Russell Nelson: Joe Smith’s Prophecies ‘Amazingly Consistent’

20 November

1 Corinthians 15:3-4 “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures”.

New Era. ‘Study the Savior’s Words,’ January 2018 “I have devoted much of my 93 years to learning about the Savior, but rare are the occasions when I have been able to learn as much as I did over this six-week study period. In fact, I learned so much about Him from this study that I am planning to share much of it in other upcoming addresses that I am currently preparing. 2

Upon beginning this assignment, I didn’t expect that this study would help me to receive a new testimony of the divinity of the work of Joseph Smith—but it did! The revelations recorded by Joseph Smith and the insights found in the Bible are amazingly consistent. It was so enlightening for me to see this in my study.

Joseph Smith wouldn’t have possibly had time to correlate and cross-reference with the Bible at the rapid rate at which he was translating the Book of Mormon—but it’s all here! – Russell Nelson

Jeremiah 9:23-24 “Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: 24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.”

1 Timothy 6:3-6 “If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.”

God’ word makes it abundantly clear we’re to reject any man who comes preaching anything other than Christ Jesus and Him crucified. Even OT prophets like Jeremiah reminds us today that if we’re to glory about anything, it needs to be in knowing God.

Nelson stated he learned a lot, and will share it in future writings (wow, okay), but he didn’t hesitate to lavish praise and adoration upon Joe Smith’s ‘insight’ about God.

As we all painfully know, Smith’s revelations were but a wholesale rejection of the Christian Biblical God. Outside of bestowing his false god with the same name of the Jesus we know in the Bible, there’s not been one thing he didn’t denounce, or rewrite.

Furthermore, in the myriads of false prophecies this guy uttered, we found only one he got right. D&C 3:4 says if a man boasts in his own strength, he will surely die. In May 1844 he boasted that he could hold a church together better than Jesus. Smith died less than two months later.

We’re praying for Russell Nelson to open his eyes to the truth, denounce the blasphemy, repent, and openly confess the Jesus of the Bible is the One True God.

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
