Romney for President, I don’t think so

27 September

The other day I received a donation letter in the mail asking for support for Mitt Romney. Out of frustration and concern that the general public knows very little about where Romney truly stands I sent the following letter to the campaign, and now I’m sharing it with you.

To whom it may concern:

As you can see by the amount I’ve chosen to give to not support Mr. Romney I strongly oppose his consideration as President of the United States. There are multitudes of reasons why I can’t support him, but I will list two very important ones which I feel make him unqualified to lead this nation.

Abortion –

While Mitt has stated that he’s pro-life I know this is far from the case ,that is if he sides with his church’s stance on abortion. On lds.org we can get a full explanation of the Mormon Church’s stance on abortion.

“Church leaders have said that some exceptional circumstances may justify an abortion, such as when pregnancy is the result of incest or rape, when the life or health of the mother is judged by competent medical authority to be in serious jeopardy, or when the fetus is known by competent medical authority to have severe defects that will not allow the baby to survive beyond birth.”

Rape or incest should never “justify an abortion”; the child shouldn’t have to pay for the crimes of the father by having its life taken. Even in the cases where “the fetus is known by competent medical authority to have sever defects that will not allow the baby to survive beyond birth”, there’s no reason for an abortion. Who are the parents or anyone else to say that child’s life no matter how short has no value?

Lastly, notice how they call the baby a “fetus” as if to call it that somehow makes it any less human? No, I can’t vote for a man who would believe in this statement from the Mormon Church.

Allegiance to Church not Country-

You may or may not be aware of the oaths Mr. Romney promised to up hold when he became an endowed member of the Mormon Church but I am. Below is a quote from the Mormon temple ceremony where participants raise their hand and swear to do all they can to build up the Mormon Church on the earth.

“It is that you do consecrate yourselves, your time, talents, and everything with which the Lord has blessed you, or with which he may bless you, to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for the building up of the kingdom of God on the earth and for the establishment of Zion.” http://lifeafterministry.wordpress.com/2011/08/23/temple-endowment-ceremonies-part-4-terrestrial-world

When the rubber meets the road Romney’s first allegiance isn’t going to be how to make America better and help it be the best country in the world.  It’s going to be how he can use his presidency to perpetuate Mormonism. After all, this is what he has promised to do, to use all he has or has been given to build up his church.

If it comes down to vote for Romney or Obama I’ll be voting for an Independent or maybe not voting at all. As bad as another four years of Obama would be, four years of Romney would be more spiritually devastating to this country. Please take me off your mailing list, not now nor ever will I support Mitt Romney.

In Christ,

Melissa Grimes

Gal 2:20

Now that you know where Romney’s stance really is, and how he’s been taught the think of the unborn could you still vote for him? Please participate in our poll and let us know.
