Revelations are Foundation of Mormonism

26 June

Matthew 7:26 “And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand.”

I was visiting a favored site a few days ago, and came upon some interesting statistics of the Mormon Church. See reference at the end of article. The title of this article was one of the facts the author pulled from an LDS reference.

We’re wondering…

Why isn’t Jesus the foundation if He’s the namesake of their church? They’ve obviously heard the word of God! And since when isn’t Jesus the means of salvation?

Why proclaim His name if salvation is available through some other means?

The following LDS reference comes from a teaching manual very much in use today.

Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Smith, pp 192-205 “…the revelations are “the foundation of the Church in these last days…”  …Those who reject the living prophet will not progress and will bring upon themselves the judgments of God. … “The doctrine of revelation far transcends the doctrine of no revelation; for one truth revealed from heaven is worth all the sectarian notions in existence.” [History of the Church, 6:252].

“Salvation cannot come without revelation; it is in vain for anyone to minister without it. … No man can be a minister of Jesus Christ except he has the testimony of Jesus; and this is the spirit of prophecy…” [History of the Church 3:389–90].”

Lovingly share with a Mormon how and why, the foundation of Christianity is Jesus, not the revelations of a local pastor.

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
