Resurrections Performed by Previously Resurrected Being

16 July

Revelation 1:7; “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.”

Discourses of Brigham Young, p. 571; “Some person holding the keys of the resurrection, having previously passed through that ordeal, will be delegated to resurrect our bodies, and our spirits will be there and prepared to enter into their bodies.”

Matthew 24:29-31; “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”

As  you read over the two scenarios above, which seems more plausible?

I can’t imagine our dear Lord subjugating the glorious resurrection day to an experience similar to what we’d have at the DMV.

Where’s the jubilation??!!??

Where’s the awe??!!??

In the Mormon plan, when does Jesus come in with the clouds? Is it before, or after, we’ve all signed in?

In the way God operates, do we really expect something so mundane? Of course not!

The reader will want to keep Brigham Young’s past comments about God’s word in mind when we come upon his other teachings.

Journal of Discourses 2:6-7; “You believe Adam was made of the dust of this earth. This I do not believe, though it is supposed that it is so written in the Bible; but it is not, to my understanding. You can write that information to the States, if you please—that I have publicly declared that I do not believe that portion of the Bible as the Christian world do. I never did, and I never want to. What is the reason I do not? Because I have come to understanding, and banished from my mind all the baby stories my mother taught me when I was a child..” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, October 23, 1853
