Resurrection Bible Prophecies
He is Risen!
He is Risen Indeed!
Holy, Holy, Holy is Jehovah of Hosts. Isa 6:3
Acts 1:3; “To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God”.
The experiences a Christian typically has during Holy Week is much different than a Mormon. Speaking from experience, the only day holding any significance is Easter itself.
Their days are booked with obligatory weekly Priesthood and Relief Society meetings, and maybe a personal endowment session at their local temple. Apart from these things, there aren’t any services devoted to observing events of Holy Week. And, depending on the year, a Mormon may not even go to church if General Conferences happens to fall on the same weekend.
Christians, on the other hand, are often found at their local churches 3-4 times during that week, depending on services provided for prayer, and to observe events that took place during the Lord’s last week on earth. It’s not uncommon to see gatherings for the observance of Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday, in addition to the Resurrection Sunday Easter Service.
My observation of this isn’t intended to sound ‘holier-than-thou’, rather, it’s to bring attention to the spiritual void Mormons seem unaware is plaguing their very lives. Instead of falling on their knees to worship God because of His grace extended to mankind, they’ve been tricked into believing they must be ever vigilant in their stance in mistrusting God’s word. What they refuse to see are the hundreds of examples of fulfilled prophecies of God’s promises to us.
A couple of days ago we looked at scriptures God fulfilled regarding Jesus’ crucifixion, so today we’re looking at fulfilled scripture concerning His resurrection. We’re also taking note of the numerous eye-witness accounts of His bodily resurrection. God went out of His way to orchestrate all these things for us. We mustn’t forget all the evidence He provided serving as another means of assurance!
You can find our list of fulfilled resurrection prophecies here, and the NT references of their fulfillment. The eyewitness accounts are listed afterwards.

Eyewitnesses to the Resurrection of Jesus
The resurrection of Jesus was declared in numerous accounts, including the appearance of the following witnesses –
Jesus to His mother, Mary, and Mary Magdalene – Matthew 28:1, 7-8, John 20:10-18
The women returning from the tomb – Matthew 28:9-10
Cleopas and his companion – Luke 24:13-32; Mark 16:12-13
He appeared to Simon – Luke 24:34
His eleven disciples – Luke 24:35-49
To eleven apostles and others – John 20:19-30
His brother James – 1 Corinthians 15:7
Seven of his disciples on the shore of the Sea of Galilee – John 21:1-24
Eleven disciples on a mountain in Galilee – Matthew 28:18-20
To the apostles on the Mount of Olives – Luke 24:50-52; Acts 1:4-9
Peter in Jerusalem – Luke 24:34; 1 Corinthians 15:5
The Lord also walked with His disciples along the road to Bethany, on the Mount of Olives, and then He finally ascended into Heaven – Luke 24:50-53
When everything is said and done, the evidence speaks for itself. We have to ask ourselves a few questions about the entire resurrection story –
After appearing to all of the people above, Paul tells us He was seen by more than 500 people at one time – 1 Corinthians 15:3-6. The remarkable thing about this is not one person is recorded to have refuted his testimony.
Jesus appeared 12 times to different group sizes ranging from just one person to 500 people. 1 Corinthians 15:3 has been found in early documents and is believed to be one of the earliest creeds of Christianity. In Paul’s statement he also encouraged people to check out his resources because most of the witnesses were still alive.
If he was lying, or trying to pull off a mega hoax of some type, why would he encourage readers to check his resources? Wouldn’t he try to hide his resources if this was all a big story?
1 Corinthians 15:3-6; “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures. 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: 6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.”
1.If Jesus’ resurrection wasn’t true, why would these people confess to seeing Him if the end result meant they’d be martyred?
2.The life of Jesus’ brother, James, did a 180° turn around. Remember, he was ready to turn his own brother in to authorities, and have Him committed! He ended up being one of the strongest leaders of the early church. How did he end up being a pillar of Christianity if his story wasn’t true?
3.The life of Saul, turned Paul. This man had the most to lose, and not just monetarily. He had a great career going, prestige, a sure ‘out’ if you will, because of his family ties. Why would he do such a thing for a lie? And why did both Luke and James speak so highly of him in their narratives if his story wasn’t true?
We pray Mormons, and non-Mormons alike will be objective in their analysis of these true events in history and embrace Jehovah-tsidkenu (the Lord our righteousness Jeremiah 23:6), the Great God and our Savior, the Nazarene Christ Jesus. Praise His Holy Name!
