Remembering 75th Anniversary of D-Day

06 June

On June 6, 1944 at 06:30 a.m. more than 160,000 troops began storming the western shores of France.

D-Day had begun.

Adolph Hitler was sound asleep.

There aren’t enough words in the English language to thank those who fought, and for those who paid the ultimate price.

Theodore Roosevelt, Jr. (son of President Teddy Roosevelt) led the campaign, and insisted he stay with the troops although he walked with a cane. A month later, he died of a heart attack.

Code-name:

Operation Overlord.

Number of Allied Countries involved: 12

Australia, Canada, Belgium, France, Czechoslovakia, Greece, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

The majority of the troops were from the US, UK, and Canada.

Number of Allied Death Casualties: 4,414 (2,501 US)

More than 100,000 Allied and German troops died during the Battle of Normandy.

Number of Allied Aircraft: 11,590

They flew 14,674 sorties and lost 127.

Number of Allied Naval Vessels: 6,939

MAY WE NEVER FORGET.

May God bless them for their sacrifice.

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
