Questions Mormons ask to Draw You into Mormonism

It’s no secret that Mormonism is completely different from Biblical Christianity. One of the ways Mormons are able to convince people their religion is the “one true church” is to create doubt in your mind about God, and His word.

The other day I came across an article titled ‘51 Questions that might lead you to Mormonism’. In the article, the author begins by explaining that when he was 20 he wasn’t finding happiness in his current interests. A couple of friends encouraged him to check out Mormonism, and then determine for himself if it’s doctrines were true.

He later explains that throughout his journey in Mormonism he has formed a ‘doctrinal Mormon superstructure’ that helps him stay grounded in the religion. This “superstructure” consists of 51 questions that non-Mormons haven’t been able to answer for him.

So, beginning today and throughout the next few weeks let’s take on some, or all these questions, shall we? Some of the questions sound pointless and monotonous. While others are prime examples of what I referred to in my introduction, these questions should be, and deserve to be addressed.

Question #1 –

“There are 50,000+ Christian denominations. Why are they not one church? (Eph 4:5)”

Ephesians 4:5 – “One Lord, one faith, one baptism”.

Here’s the thing, contrary to what Mormons will tell you, Jesus didn’t come to set up a visible church. He came to save the lost, and offer Himself as a sacrifice for the sins of the world. In doing so He didn’t establish a physical church, but a body of believers.

1 Corinthians 12:13-14 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many.

Ephesians 1:22-23 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

Now as to why there are so many denominations, the answer at GotQuestions? says it best. (You can read more below.)

“The rise of denominations within the Christian faith can be traced back to the Protestant Reformation, the movement to “reform” the Roman Catholic Church during the 16th century, out of which four major divisions or traditions of Protestantism would emerge: Lutheran, Reformed, Anabaptist, and Anglican. From these four, other denominations grew over the centuries.”

As much as Mormons want to claim their church, is the only true church there are many splinter groups, and offshoots of Mormonism as well. According to Wikipedia, there are close to 100 groups that broke off from the original church Joseph Smith established on April 6, 1830.

In addition, Mormon Missions Midwest Outreach wrote on article listing the various groups that broke off from the Mormon Church as well. (see link below)

Given that all these churches are rooted in Mormonism, which is the true one?

Why are they not all “one church”?

From the very beginning Mormonism has prided itself on being a unified body of believers who all believe the same thing, walk the same walk, and talk the same talk, and yet there are members who wish to break away and start their own “church”.

Now, I ask why is that?

In Christ,

Melissa Grimes
