Prayers of Moses and Lehi ‘Coincidental’?

14 May

1 Nephi 1:6 “And it came to pass as he prayed unto the Lord, there came a pillar of fire and dwelt upon a rock before him, and he saw and heard much. And because of the things which he saw and heard, he did quake and tremble exceedingly.

2 Maccabees 2:10 “And as when Moses prayed unto the Lord, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the sacrifices: even so prayed Solomon also, and the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offerings.”

Proverbs 30:5-6 “Every word of God is pure: He is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. 6 Add thou not unto his words, Lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.”

Here we are with another Book of Mormon story that’s eerily similar to what we see in the Apocrypha of all places…

What are the odds?

Joe Smith obviously wanted people to believe the following story…

An unknown tribe of Israelites who called themselves Lehites, or Nephites, disobeyed God, and left Jerusalem when God told all of the Israelites to stay put c. bc 600. Instead of encountering the fate other Israelites came to know, God blessed this obscure group by sending down a pillar of fire from heaven when they prayed. It was like a re-do of what God performed when Moses prayed.

See Coincidences in Mormonism where you’ll find at least a dozen other events that have plagued Joe Smith’s work.

With Love in Christ;
