Poor Grammar in the Book of Mormon (Foundation of BoM Series)

Foundation of the Book of Mormon Series

Today we’re on the final part of this section in our Foundation of the Book of Mormon Series!  Yay!

The issue we’re dealing with today is the numerous times we found poor grammar in the Book of Mormon.  I’ve listed some examples from many of the books in the Book of Mormon to show my readers just how awful the contents are. Joseph Smith obviously had poor grammar. It’s also a well documented fact the printer refused to print the Book of Mormon if he wasn’t allowed to clean up some of the mistake Smith and company made while writing the Book of Mormon.

While I still hold to the theory Smith was the lone author, his counterparts were just as guilty by going along with his crazy schemes. They wrote the words that fell from the lips of Smith so it’s the fault of more than one in this scenario.

Below you’ll find almost two pages of one line examples. If you’re interested in having a list of all the grammar problems in the Book of Mormon you can e-mail me michelle@lifeafter.org and I’ll send you the entire seven page document.

I want it to be understood I’m not publishing these things to be rude or to make fun of the Mormon people. This section of our study series makes me sick and it’s not necessarily because I can’t stand poor grammar. I’m not an English expert (that should be painfully obvious to the English teachers), but this makes me sick in my heart.  Bottom line; this is not a joke to me.

I just can’t imagine looking at this day in and day out for inspiration. I can’t imagine this is how God would speak to His people and believe they’d take Him seriously. I also keep wondering what goes through my mother’s mind when she reads this stuff.  How is this acceptable to anyone, let alone the English teachers?

Please pray for these dear people. Pray they’ll look at this in context and wonder why their god would say the things he did in their “holy” scripture.

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
