Plural Marriage

Encyclopedia of Mormonism, pg 1092; “In 1843, one year before his death, the Prophet Joseph Smith dictated a lengthy revelation on the doctrine of marriage for eternity (D&C 132…). This revelation also taught that under certain conditions a man might be authorized to have more than one wife. Though the revelation was first committed to writing on July 12, 1843, considerable evidence suggests that the principle of plural marriage was revealed to Joseph Smith more than a decade before…probably in early 1831.”

Deut. 17:17; “Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold.”

If God had given you a revelation to share with the people you’re leading to God for salvation, why wouldn’t you share it with them immediately? Could it be this idea came from your own mind instead of God’s?  Smith announced this “revelation” on July 12, 1843. By this time Smith had no less than 37 wives.
